Auto-referentiality in art. Metalanguage in the digital medium
This article analyses the work of a number of digital artists who use the resources of the digital medium as the central message. Our aim is to show the many ways of using, developing and manipulating metalanguage. Firstly, with the aim of understanding this work, a context is created in which its background will be considered. The second part looks at how metalanguage in today's artistic and digital context is once again a highly-used resource, becoming a characteristic methodology of contemporary art and digital media.
