Frontier bodies. Empires and resistances in post-postmodernism

Jaime del Val (jaimedelval@reverso.org)
Director of Reverso Institute
Abstract

The article proposes a revision of biopolitical paradigms and seeks to redefine the relations between implicit power, communication technologies and the non-verbal aspects of communication. A shift of paradigm is proposed which concentrates on the critique of the implicit relations between technology and language, redefining communication and the body as metaformative processes, thus surpassing the textual dimension of the theories of performativity, and opening up a new critical horizon for politics and aesthetics. It follows with a critique of logocentric and technopositivist paradigms of digital culture and reviews the potential site of media art and dance & technology for the production of specific technological models in a context of resistance to implicit mechanisms of standardisation. The article concludes with a description of projects developed in the framework of the Institute Reverso.
