As you know, it was a few years ago that our university made the creation of the Artnodes space possible, a space devoted to the emerging intersections between art, science and technology. In about 2002, aware of the importance of the transformations that had been taking place in the arts, and spurred on by the appearance of information and communication technologies in the context of the Information and Knowledge Society, the UOC decided to create a space devoted to digital art and the new forms of creation emerging with the new media from a broad-based perspective.

During this time, the Artnodes space has evolved, structuring itself wholly according to the activities carried out at local and international level. First, by configuring an online academic journal format aimed at the historical study and technical reflection on the intersections between art, science and technology. Second, creating a dynamic environment for the selection of relevant information that made it possible to take the pulse of an emerging activity which, by its characteristics, is developing at international level and very quickly. Third, through institutional cooperation, generating spaces for face to face meetings to contribute to the debate and reflection in society. Four, opening up a network of alliances that has enabled collaboration projects to be carried out, such as the creation of the YASMIN (Your Arts Science Mediterranean International Network), the television programme Artilugis and the international LABS project of PhD Theses databases relating to the field that concerns us.

In short, there is now a set of heterogeneous agents which comprises the professional and academic community, readers, authors, collaborators, networks, groups, institutions, etc., who bring this latent community to life that has been established around Artnodes. We are now beginning a new stage in the Artnodes academic journal, the Artnodes Journal, with a new format, new design, new features that allow considerable improvements to be made to the journal and advance its contribution to the study of digital art and the other intersections between art, science and technology. We hope that you like it and that you will enjoy it. We are, as always, on hand and open to any suggestions that you feel appropriate.
