En el context del 25è aniversari d’Ars Electronica, Gerfried Stocker ens explica com és d’interessant i útil aquest repàs històric de l’art electrònic per a les persones relacionades amb l’art i els mitjans digitals i multimèdia, atès que els dóna l’oportunitat d’entendre millor en quin punt exacte es troba el Media Art, d’on ha vingut i què s’ha fet fins ara. I en aquesta evolució, Stocker considera que un dels grans canvis de la societat i gran inspiració posterior per a l’artista ha estat l’augment dels mitjans de control i com a conseqüència de la por que experimenten les persones davant del terrorisme i el perill extern.

L’obra artística de Gerfried Stocker està vinculada a instal·lacions, performances, interactivitat, robòtica i telecomunicacions. És el director del Centre Ars Electronica i, juntament amb Christine Schöpf, codirector artístic del Festival Ars Electronica.

Pregunta: In this really interesting opportunity to revisit the history of Media Art, I was wondering about the time shifts, what do you think they stand for?
