The project "Writing in the air" intends to generate an interactive multi-user environment that lets us experiment with different situations. The interface is a torch that illuminates and activates sensors in the walls that generates a response by a computer. The project has been conceived more as work in progress than as a final piece. There are different outcomes from the same installation in order to appreciate how the users react in a multi-user environment. Do the users negotiate meanings? Some of the outcomes are abstract/musical sounds, others are meaningful recorded words. In a second stage we intend to offer the piece to dance/performance companies to generate specific choreographies for this interactive environment. One of these experiments will be a choreography based on the principles of emergent behavior where dancers become boids.
