Cop de poma. The Books, the Visual Poetry.

Brossa's friendships and collaborative ventures with many visual artists and other creative individuals are reflected in a great number of visual books, or artist's books, of great originality in which he manifests his experimental, transgressive and lyrical poetics. In the hands of the poet, who always took a keen delight in surprise, the book becomes yet another space of poetic investigation, in which the boundaries between the different arts are dissolved. His creative relationship with Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies was particularly intense. We should also note the books produced in collaboration with Moisès Villèlia, Frederic Amat, Perejaume, Manuel Esclusa, Alfons Borrell and Eduardo Chillida. The Poemes habitables (Habitable Poems) (1970) allow us to trace the progress towards the object in Brossa's experimental poetry. The Poemes habitables are, at the same time, the most important collection of his visual poetry. An authentic laboratory of the poet's working process, they offer remarkable insights into the original projects behind a number of his best-known poster poems.
