The postgraduate in Arts, media and popular culture UOC-LABoral lays the foundations for understanding and analysing the changes and transformations in the relationship between culture and society, and new, contemporary artistic and cultural productions under the influence of the information and communication technologies in an interdisciplinary context and in connection with the main international debates in arts, humanities, communication and social sciences.
Artistic cultural practices – from the most acknowledged to the newest, from the most minority to the most popular – are rapidly being transformed with new ways of producing, transmitting and experiencing culture. The emergence of information and communication technologies and the changes in the media and creative industries are key to understanding this cultural change. Thus, this course provides the tools to think about the changes and innovation in the relationship between culture, arts, technology and society through theoretical foundations and the analysis of relevant case studies and discussions with creators and analysts from cultural spheres.
This programme provides theoretical, practical and methodological tools to analyse these processes of innovation in art, culture and communication in connection with current trends, but also from a historical and contrasted perspective. With the participation of leading specialists from the world of art and culture, research, media and entertainment, we will analyse aspects in real time that we will work on from a theoretical, historical or practical point of view.
The programme adapts to the professional context of arts and humanities and advanced audio-visual communication, but it also has a clear connection with the context of creative industries and cultural management. The course is aimed, therefore, both at researchers wishing to study arts and culture in the modern world and at professionals and creators whose work concerns culture, media and the creative industries.
