Learn how to develop creative and efficient strategies for books in the Internet age

The world of books and reading is undergoing profound transformations resulting from the widespread use of Internet and the proliferation of sophisticated reading devices (e-readers, mobile phones, tablets, etc.). Over the past several years paper has lost its importance as the main medium for textual content; more and more its creation, use and consumption occurs in the digital medium and via Internet. This radical change of paradigm surrounding books demands that all of the agents involved in any of its facets must continuously adapt to highly dynamic realities. Technological progress is opening up extraordinary possibilities for books that must be taken advantage of. Only in this way can we meet the needs of the growing number of technophile, screen-oriented and interactive readers.

The UOC-Grup 62-Leqtor Books and Reading in the Information Society postgraduate course offers a forum for training, reflection and exchange regarding the past, present and future of books with theoretical , practical and creative approaches. The educational program combines humanistic and technological knowledge and embraces traditional knowledge about books as well as innovations such as Web 2.0 applications and reading via streaming.

The teaching team incorporates both the academic experience of the UOC faculty and the expertise of different professionals who are working at the vanguard of digital content in multiple sectors. In this way then, students in the postgraduate course will be able to learn, first-hand, good practices and communicate with authors, publishers, critics, literary agents, booksellers, librarians, teaching staff, computer specialists, researchers, culture managers and institutional promoters.

This postgraduate course consists of three specialisations:

Publishing in a digital world UOC-Grup 62-Leqtor

Technologies and resources for the book and reading UOC-Grup 62-Leqtor

Publishing and Technologies UOC-Grup62-Leqtor
