The specialist course on Management of e-health clinical knowledge and information is part of the e-health postgraduate course, included in the Master's in Telemedicine. Given its introductory nature, it uses a predominantly critical approach to develop the capacity for analysis and interpretation in the complex world of the management of information and clinical knowledge in the information society. Firstly, it takes a rigorous look at healthcare systems by studying diverse European health systems. It also deals with related problems, such as funding, the provision of personal healthcare services and the management of resources, and it analyses the chief reforms of Western healthcare systems. Secondly, it covers key aspects of responsibility and the legal aspects affecting medical practice. It analyses the role of ICTs in social transformations and in the doctor-patient relationship, configuring a global health model based on globality (the global health of the individual), cross-cutting issues (covering its disciplinary and service aspects on a health level), networks (for the coordinated combination of communication tools and definition of the basic characteristics of modern lifestyles) and the individual (specifically, the change in attitude that transfers the control of and responsibility for health to the user, which, in turn, results in a change in the health model). Lastly, it provides a critical reflection on the various forms and characteristics that medical records have incorporated throughout their history and the changes ushered in by the use of ICTs. It then studies the effect that this has had and is having specifically on the management of information, communication and medical practice.
The specialist course on Health and the information society is a vocational course designed and structured as an academic itinerary, which means that students can enrol in their own time, in accordance with their personal interests and the time they have available for study. It also facilitates gradual access to qualification in line with the choices of the individual student.
