The specialist course on Strategies, implementation and evaluation of telemedicine projects in clinical practice is part of the postgraduate course in e-health, included in the Master's in Telemedicine.
ICTs have been gradually making their mark on health services, affecting their structure and organisation and requiring all agents involved to adapt to new technologies. As a result, any technical innovation will depend largely and directly on organisational innovation. Only then can it result in improved efficacy and quality of service.
With its cross-cutting approach, this course attempts to introduce professionals to the reality of projects that apply telemedicine to real healthcare contexts, analysing the interactions that take place during the implementation of ICTs and the organisational transformations and changes that occur in management models, culture and healthcare services. It will also look at key aspects of their prioritisation, design, implementation, integration and evaluation.
In short, students will obtain the necessary knowledge to make decisions on the management of a telemedicine system in a healthcare institution and deal with the legal and IT security issues affecting this area.
The specialist course on Health and the information society is a mixed course (research-based and vocational) designed and structured as an academic itinerary, which means that students can enrol in their own time, in accordance with their personal interests and the time they have available for study. It also facilitates gradual access to qualification in line with the choices of the individual student.
Professionals taking part in the programme may contribute the following skills to their organisation in their present and future roles and positions:
- Be knowledgeable of telemedicine’s involvement with Information and Communication Technologies and of the changes in organisation, management models, culture and healthcare services deriving from the latter within a healthcare organisation and on an inter-institutional level.
- Be able to prioritise, design, implement, integrate and evaluate the implementation of a telemedicine system in diverse healthcare areas in order to deal with a real healthcare problem.
