The health service sector must respond to the changes taking place in its field: Population growth, increased life expectancy, immigration, the introduction of new technologies, among other variables, are all causing profound changes that will oblige us to overcome new challenges through constant adaptation involving great innovation, both in terms of finance models, insurance and the provision of services in a framework of sustainability and with the involvement of politicians, professionals and the citizens, who must become more aware of the importance of looking after their own health, and participate in the planning and management of the System.

The training process used in this programme is based on principles, values and consolidated knowledge, but also on the practical application of learning in the form of activities aimed at critical analysis, assessment and decision-making. It uses a system of simulation integrating situations representative of the real-life operation of healthcare environments.

At the end of this programme, the professionals who have taken part in it will contribute the following skills to their organisation in their present and future roles and positions:

• A global view of the healthcare system in all its complexity, including the areas of financing, purchasing and provision.
• A global view of the Spanish health system.
• Application and interpretation of financial criteria for the generation and production of resources, negotiation of financing, budget design and management and expenditure control.
• Assessment and interpretation of results and evaluation of successful actions and errors to ensure continuous improvement.
• Contextualising the management of their company within the global framework of the healthcare system in which it operates.
