Television is undergoing a process of profound change that will have a great impact on its future. On the one hand, the introduction of digital TV has led to a considerable increase in the number of channels, with the subsequent need for new professionals, and on the other, a new concept in television production, broadcasting and reception that has also created the need for new knowledge and skills.

The new society of screens is modifying the uses and consumption habits of television and audio-visual programmes. And this has to do with the new Internet TV channels and the consumption of asynchronous television and mobile screens.

This new scenario, therefore, entails important changes in the production and reception of television programmes. Changes affecting all genres and content, including entertainment.

The master's in Entertainment TV3-UOC has been designed to complete the training of audio-visual professionals in knowledge of the entertainment genre. It is clearly a master's with an eminently professional vocation linking directly to the training offered by universities. The rapid evolution of the audio-visual industry requires its professionals to be highly specialised and up to date, which is difficult to achieve with current undergraduate degrees and diplomas. Hence, this master's course constitutes the perfect bridge from these studies.

Despite its professional vocation, the master's in Entertainment TV3-UOC does not overlook its commitment to research and, naturally, teaching.

The Master's in Entertainment covers the following research lines:

  • Television and public space

  • Analysis and design of languages and audio-visual entertainment products

  • Application of new technologies to the audio-visual creation of entertainment

In this master's course, these learning methods are complemented by the direct and effective participation of the students in the techniques of the television professionals. Hence, it is relevant that this master's is taught with the collaboration of leading professionals from TV3 and the audio-visual sector.

The overall aim of the master's is to train audio-visual media professionals with a high degree of knowledge of the genre of entertainment and its context, and with highly specialised knowledge in some of the main tasks, such as the direction, performance, production or creation of scripts.
