This specialisation deals with changes, reforms and transformations in the Arab world between the nineteenth century and the present day, taking into account the Al-Nahda era and the Renaissance. To understand the Arab world, its potential and its strengths, we need to understand the changes it has brought about, sustained or ignored in the contemporary era. This specialisation will address the changes in the Arab world. We will consider the fact that this world is heir to a civilisation that has been followed by many weakened forms, withdrawals and upheavals. The specialisation has been designed to teach how and why the singular, heterogeneous Arab world faces multiple challenges, such as its model of development, rule of law and Western hegemony. The connection between Islam and progress, the issues of reforms, freedoms, intercultural dialogue and Euro-Arab relations are the course's main lines for understanding the Arab world.
This master's course is taught by renowned international staff and draws on a rich syllabus due to the versatility of its topics, based on 16 modules, which allow for diverse and complementary specialisations.
