Until relatively recently, cultural strategy was isolated in its own department, in a very peripheral position with little relation to other municipal divisions or departments. Culture has now become a key element in the promotion and development of cities. This reality has a direct relationship with the phenomena associated with globalisation processes, which act on urban realities by modifying the landscape and urban functions, and with the emphasis on local culture as an added value of the land and urban offer.
On the one hand, this course presents the urban potential and inconveniences associated with the cultural dimension and, on the other, the most common models of use of cultural strategies for the development of cities.
At the end of the course, students will be familiar with the instruments and mechanisms of cultural management and be able to apply instruments of strategic design and cultural management and to manage cultural equipment and events in the city.
