The city is a political reality. We cannot conceive the city without taking into account its political and administrative bodies, since the quality and success of a city depends largely on the quality of the mechanisms of its administrative management.
Current changes in social and economic structure should be accompanied by changes in political and administrative organisation. Political and democratic innovations and mechanisms are required to meet the new needs of urban society.
This course offers an evolutionary learning approach, explaining to students how political and administrative organisation works before moving on to analysing and evaluating local public policies and their management tools. Finally, it equips the students with the capacity to make decisions and propose changes in a particular urban environment.
