Social policies is the term used to refer to the series of public policies which, through services and transfers, act on guidelines for social equity to promote and guarantee the exercise of civic rights. In the attempt to give substance to social rights, they can range from integral policies such as those on social exclusion to more specific themes like housing or addiction. Located in an antagonistic position midway between the guarantee of universality and the acknowledgement of the diversity of needs, today's social policies face the challenge of establishing new ways of understanding social relations with a more comprehensive approach, promoting the participation of all social actors in the diagnosis, design, management and evaluation of interventions.
At the end of the course, students will be able to incorporate an integral perspective in the design of social policies, in consonance with the growing complexity of needs and profiles of social vulnerability, establishing relations between social interventions at the diverse administrative levels and discovering management instruments that can recover proximity in the cross-cutting management of public policies.
