In our increasingly interconnected socio-economic environment, which depends on the excellent management of information and knowledge, information and communication technologies (ICTs) are a key factor in the competitiveness of companies and their ability to hold on to their market position.
Dynamic and efficient organisations do not simply invest in technology, they also analyse their needs and implement the system that best adapts to these. It is also vital to be familiar with the policies of the information society and their interrelation with culture, economics and education if we are to deal successfully with strategies for business growth and their technological implementation.
Hence, the UOC's Postgraduate Training has designed the IT Governance and Consulting Services Specialist Trends Course to produce professionals who successfully master the management and implementation of ICTs in their organisation and understand the environment of the information society in which they do business.
This specialist course will cover topics of IT governance, explaining the COBIT and ITIL reference models. This module links in with the strategic and operating management aspects covered in the second term. Lastly, the module deals with information systems consulting, distinguishing between the different types of consulting that managers can contract, and illustrates the basic components of consultant methodologies, the terminology used, how to read consultant reports, collaborate with them and, basically, how to obtain the maximum benefit from our investment (in time and money) when we hire an external consultant.
Professionals who take part in this programme will be able to contribute the following skills to their organisation:
- Knowledge of the most innovative standards for the operation of IT and ICT departments (IT Governance).
- Knowledge of how to go about hiring professional consulting services.
