Technology is becoming increasingly varied and ubiquitous. In this context, the key factor in the development and acceptance of technology over the next few years will be its adaptation to the needs of users and the ease of use.
The end goal is to design simpler interactive products that are more focused on the needs of people and that increase personal effectiveness and satisfaction.
To achieve this level of acceptance we will need new design philosophies and new companies and professionals to implement them: observation, understanding and execution. Specifically, to design considering who, what, when and where the product or application is designed for. Improved design involves analysis and identification, the creation of prototypes and repeated evaluation to improve user experience. We are attempting to bring technological products closer to people.
The Human-Computer Interaction discipline (HCI) promotes this change by coordinating the essential aspects involved in the interaction between people and computers. These include human characteristics and needs, the functionality of interactive products, the context of use, the implementation of technological systems, information architecture, graphic and interactive elements and the processes involved in developing these products.
This course deals with the interdisciplinary specialisation in the design of new technologies focused on design, human factors and technology. This course promotes the use of User-Oriented Design (UOD) in the development of useable interactive technological products as well as the integration of interdisciplinary teams dedicated to the creation of these products, products that are adapted both to the needs of companies and consumers. This course attempts to bring people and technology closer together.
