The PSINET research group takes part in worldwide initiative to control diabetes

Coinciding with World Diabetes Day on 14 November, the UOC IN3 E-Health Psychology (PSINET) research group is taking part in a worldwide initiative to raise awareness on diabetes. The initiative is being led by the non-profit Diabetes Hands Foundation, in collaboration with the DiabetesDaily.com virtual community and the DiabetesStories.com blog.


Experts debate the potential of telemedicine in Latin America

Representatives and researchers from leading universities and various Latin American bodies shared their experiences on the development of telemedicine, the sustainability of public healthcare services and the digital divide in the region. They did so at the 2nd International Symposium on Telemedicine jointly organised by the UOC and the University of Caldas in the Colombian city of Manizales. The first symposium was held in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2010.


The UOC backs inter-university master's degree in telemedicine with Bolivia and Ecuador

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC), the Universidad Central del Ecuador (Central University of Ecuador, UCE) and the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Simón Bolívar Andean University, UASB), Bolivia, presented the results of a study conducted in Bolivia on the penetration and use of ICTs in health services. The study will now be used to support the creation of a joint master?s degree.


Bolivia and Ecuador push for a triple Master's degree in e-Health

The UOC, the Universidad Central de Ecuador (UCE) and the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (UASB), present in the headquarters of the UASB in Sucre the preliminary results of an investigation whose objective is to develop a triple qualification in e-Health that promotes the use of ICT in clinical practice in Bolivia and Ecuador. The project is framed in the creation of the Clúster Iberoamericano de Cooperación Universitaria en Salud (CICUS) (Cluster Latin American Higher Education Collaboration in Health), which seeks to meet the health care challenges of the 21st century through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
