Symposium Joan Miró: Painting - Poetry

Joan Miró: Painting – Poetry will focus in the main on Miró’s dream of merging painting and poetry, as well as his awareness of the existence of an inexorable duality between the text and the image. His simultaneous exploration in his works of these two contradictory paths constituted a major contribution to the art of his time. This symposium will also provide greater insights into the influence of French and Catalan poetry on Miró and his contemporaries.

Symposium organized by the Càtedra Miró (Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona - Universitat Oberta de Catalunya), New York University Paris and the Université Paris-Nanterre, with the support of the Provost’s Global Research Initiative (NYU). Coordinated by Robert Lubar Messeri and Rémi Labrusse on behalf of the International Miró Research Group.
