Admission requirements

Students do not need any form of academic certification to enrol on the language courses.

The only requirement is access to a computer with a broadband internet connection, a headset with headphones and a microphone, and a webcam. Students should ensure that the computer is powerful enough to support conference calls.

Once enrolled, the UOC will assign Centre for Modern Languages students a counsellor to guide them in organising their work in the classroom and to monitor their academic progress beyond just the specific course in question.

Although e-learning has the advantage of offering flexible learning, students have to be aware that they need to set aside between 8 and 12 hours a week to successfully complete the course and that they will need to keep a steady pace throughout. They also need to bear in mind the deadlines for handing in the activities for assessment. Students are advised to access the classroom at least every 48 hours.
