eLC Project Meetings with Researchers from MIT, Art of e-Learning and CreaFutur

17/09/2015

From 21st to 23rd September, the eLearn Center is holding working meetings with the organisations and companies with which it collaborates. The main objective of the meetings is to define current pedagogical, technological and workplace trends in order to inform the UOC’s decision-making process on the university of the future.

One of the primary ideas developed in the UOC’s Strategic Plan (2014-2020) is the need to define the university of the future. The eLearn Center is undertaking several studies which share the common purpose of identifying the change factors and the lines of evolution within the socio-technological and educational environments, which enable the description of new scenarios for the use of digital technology in both professional and learning contexts.

The studies cover the following areas:

- Technology: the aim is to define the architecture of the web platform. In collaboration with MIT.

- Pedagogy: the aim is to define pedagogical trends over the next few years. In collaboration with Art of e-Learning.

- Digital learners: the aim is to understand the needs of digital learning consumers. In collaboration with CreaFutur.

The purpose of these studies is to provide sufficient knowledge in order to guide the decision making and development of two strategic projects: Campus Virtual and UOC Usability. Within a timeline of 5 years (2020), UOC aims to accomplish the following: definition of the learning programmes on offer; teaching and learning methodologies; creation of curriculums and study plans; and the design and development of the virtual environments and digital tools, among others.

Three Days of Working Meetings at UOC

From 21st to 23rd September, the eLearn Center is holding working meetings with the organisations and companies with which it collaborates to define pedagogical, technological and workplace trends in order to inform the UOC’s decisions on the university of the future.

Within the framework of these working meetings, “Teaching, Technology and Work Futures” is a workshop in which participants will share and discuss the results of each of the projects to date.

The workshop will take place at the UOC Tibidabo site and aims to generate knowledge about the future possible scenarios for the UOC over the next five years. It will cover the pedagogical and technological trends in higher education, changes in the workplace for graduates and the experiences of using the web and digital technology for so-called ‘digital learners’ throughout their lives.
