Pilar Garcia Lorda comes from the medical company Covidien/Medtronic, where she was director of scientific activities and clinical studies in the fields of gastrointestinal and pulmonary health for Europe and emerging markets. Before that she had worked in creating and leading the Medical Department of Nestlé Healthcare Nutrition.
She has a bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona (1987-1992) and a doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (1996-2000), where she was unanimously awarded the cum laude distinction. She has also held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Institute of Human Nutrition at New York's Columbia University (2001-2003) and carried out research into obesity, body weight regulation and composition at the Obesity Research Center at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital.
She has studied marketing at the EADA Business School and the specialization course in Clinical Management Administration and Leadership at the UOC (2013-2014).
