The chair of the Board will be Maxi San Miguel, full professor of Physics at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and director of the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFSIC), a combined centre of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
As well as the chair, an additional 9 persons will make up the IN3 Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). The Board members are:

The work to be carried out by the members of the SAB consists of drafting an assessment report on the activity of one or more groups of the Institute. The assessment process will include a review of written reports issued by each group, an interview with the head of the corresponding group, an exhaustive review of the assessments with the director of the IN3 and a feedback and comments session prior to the final assessment.
The assessment meetings of the SAB will take place every year from the end of 2017. The Institute currently includes ten research groups and each group has to be evaluated at least once every four years. Consequently, on average, between two and four groups are evaluated each year. The participation of each member of the SAB will depend on the specific disciplines of the groups being evaluated.
In addition, the SAB will also advise the IN3 on the recruitment of new researchers in any recruitment processes initiated. In this case, it will ask SAB members to evaluate the CVs of the candidates and to issue a report on their suitability for the Institute.
It is forecast that the first meeting of the IN3 SAB will take place at the end of 2017, to coincide with the assessment of certain groups of the Institute. This first meeting will also be used to officially establish the SAB and offer its members a tour of the IN3 facilities in Castelldefels.
