UOC UNESCO Chair in E-Learning 6th International Seminar
[30/11/2009][30/11/2009 - 01/12/2009]

To mark the end of the 2009 as the European Year of Creativity and Innovation, the UNESCO Chair is offering an international platform for presenting OSL related research and practices, with an eye on mapping new trends in the field of open online education at all levels.

The Seminar will take place in Barcelona, November 30-December 1, 2009.

We will discuss the theoretical foundations of collective knowledge production in social networks on the Internet (connectivism, collectivism, constructivism, even Edupunks), present research and case studies from various continents, assess the possibilities offered by a system involving a high level of self-learning based on the peer-to-peer support. Different designs, tools and functionalities of social learning networks will be evaluated.

The main scope behind this analysis is to evaluate the possibility of using tools of social networking for training in a formal educational setting as well as the possibility of offering subjects using open social networks

The seminar aims for researchers, teachers and educators at all institutional levels to gain a more profound understanding of what constitutes innovation and knowledge creation in the learning and teaching practice, thus helping the stakeholders to accelerate and strengthen the impact of educational technologies.
