AUIP

AUIP (Ibero-American University Association for Postgraduate Studies)

The aim of AUIP is to further mobility among students, faculty and researchers in postgraduate or doctoral studies in Ibero-America. It is a forum to advertise postgraduate studies at all the affiliated universities and provides support for thematic research networks. The AUIP also offers technical teams to member universities for support in terms of quality, administration and academic reinforcement.

CASE

CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education)

This is an organisation that helps its members build stronger relationships with their alumni and donors, raise funds for campus projects, produce recruitment materials, market their institutions to prospective students, diversify the profession and foster public support for education.

CINDA

CINDA (Interuniversity Development Centre)

An international academic institution that links universities to look at the principal problems of economic and social development in Latin America. The UOC is participating in the European Commission’s ALFA III Quality Assurance and Public Policy project. The project will last 3 years and was approved in December 2008.

CREAD

CREAD (Inter-American Distance Education Consortium)

This consortium promotes the development of distance education and the spread of knowledge by this means at an international.

EDUCAUSE

EDUCAUSE

The principal mission of this association is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. This includes a group of initiatives or programmes that help meet the challenges of higher education with information technologies through applied research, data benchmarking and programmes directed at the advanced creation of networks, policy, security, and teaching and learning.

ELI

ELI (Educause Learning Initiative)

As its name indicates, ELI is an initiative within the Educause network committed to advancing learning through technological innovation. Its strategic focus is on learners, learning principles and practices, and learning technologies.

GUNI

GUNI (Global University Network for Innovation)

Composed of UNESCO Chairs in Higher Education, research centres, universities, networks and other institutions highly committed to innovation in higher education, its aim is to follow up the application of decisions made at the World Conference on Higher Education (WCHE) held in Paris in 1998.

IAU

IAU (International Association of Universities)

This association is devoted to building a worldwide community of higher education and to promoting the principles of freedom and justice, of human dignity and solidarity. The IAU contributes, through international cooperation, to the development of material and moral assistance for the strengthening of higher education.

ICDE

ICDE (International Council for Open and Distance Education)

An organisation recognised by the United Nations (UNESCO) that serves as the global umbrella membership organisation in online, flexible and blended learning, including e-learning and distance education. Above all, it promotes cooperation and intercultural understanding through learning.

IMS

IMS Global Learning Consortium

This consortium offers specifications and standards for educational applications and tools. Member organisations are linked to the fields of education and technology. Magí Almirall, Director of Learning Technology, is a member of the Technical Board of this consortium.

NMC

NMC (New Media Consortium)

A consortium that focuses on development of new applications for technology while promoting educational innovation at both a technological and methodological level. Since 2007 the UOC has translated the annual Horizon Report on emerging technologies with a high impact on e-learning into Catalan and Spanish.

OCW

OCW (OpenCourseWare Consortium)

A consortium that promotes the scope and impact of educational materials publicly available on the internet.
At present, the UOC offers about 30 courses in three different languages: Catalan, Spanish and English. (http://ocw.uoc.edu/)

RECLA

RECLA (Latin American and European Network for Continuing Education)

This network promotes development of continuing education strategies and policy at universities and backs the creation of a Latin American university association interested in collaborating in this area.
