[20/06/2007]
The Open University of Catalonia is the first university in Spain to start an open channel through the YouTube platform. The goal is to make available to everybody conferences and events organized by this University, in order to share and spread the knowledge generated by their public activities. In this channel, among others, speeches by António Damásio, and Mustafa Cherif, are already available. Professor António Damásio was awarded the Príncipe de Asturias award in 2005, and Mustafa Cherif is a well-known philosopher and former Minister of Argelia.

The UOC will make available to its community and the general public, the videotapes of their conferences and events. Also, those conferences of relevant people invited by the UOC will also be spread, provided the authors give the necessary permission to do so. The speeches "Brain and mind: from medicine to society" by António Damásio, and "Apprendre à vivre ensemble" by Mustapha Cherif, are already available on the channel. The speech by António Damásio, recipient of the Príncipe de Asturias award, was delivered at the Parc de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona, and the speech by Mustapha Cherif, philosopher and former Minister of Argelia, was delivered on the context of the L´islam al segle XXI cicle, organized by the IEMED and the UOC.
