The UOC publishes its research activities on the net
[21/06/2007]
The Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3), the UOC's research institute, has revamped its website. The new website looks, principally, to promote the dissemination of the University's scientific activities, which are focused on the interdisciplinary analysis of the information society, and to publicise the research activities developed within the framework of the IN3's research groups and programmes. The principal areas of research are e-learning, new technology and the educational system, e-governance, the new economy, law and ICT, technology and health, digital culture, new communication media, internet and daily life, computing and network technologies, information management, gender and ICT, immigration and ICT, and negotiation of risk.

Alongside the research activities developed within the framework of the IN3, the website also offers wide-ranging information on the PhD on the Information and Knowledge Society. Thus, those interested in studying on the PhD course can find out more about the different areas of research on offer for their PhD theses, about the thesis supervisors, research methodologies, calls for grants, etc. The website is also designed to act as the first port of call in establishing possible links and alliances with university students and professors in other countries and as a tool for gaining research funds by generating trust through the publishing of results (offering transparency for financing bodies). Furthermore, the website also has a special area set aside for publicising the activities and services related to research: events, calls, acts linked to the RDI subject areas, etc.

About the IN3
In the year 2000, the UOC founded the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) as its research institute. The research developed within the framework of the IN3 focuses, generically, on the interdisciplinary analysis of the information society. Despite the fact that most of the projects developed belong to the area of basic research, the IN3 does also carry out applied research and innovation projects. The IN3 also plays home to and supports the Information and Knowledge Society PhD programme, which takes a systematic approach to both the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on the different social, economic, political and cultural fields, and the global changes accompanying the current rise of the information and knowledge society.
