With the targets for the first year of the project having been met, plans for the second year involve the development of an online learning system based on the generation of a competence-based profile for each user. Named e-Portfolio (e-Portafolio), this resource will enable teaching staff to monitor students' progress, as well as making it easier for human resources workers to identify the individuals who are best suited to specific tasks, on the basis of the areas in which they are deemed to be competent.
The other participants in the project, which has been supported by the Spanish Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism as part of the national information society services programme, are the Balearic Islands Youth Tourism Association (Consorci de Turisme Jove de les Illes Balears), the Balearic Islands Technological Innovation Foundation (Fundació IBIT) and the IT service provider ATOS Origin SA. The company leading the project, P.A.U. Education, specialises in the design and comprehensive development of projects that help businesses, institutions and associations to take an innovative, effective approach to solving social or educational challenges.
The presentation has attended by Toni Riu, the manager of P.A.U. Education's strategy department; Llorenç Valverde, Vice President for Technology at the UOC; and Santi Ristol, services area manager at ATOS. It has token place on 18 December in the UOC's assembly hall, with a videoconference link-up to a simultaneous event staged by the Ministry of Work of the government of the Balearic Islands in Palma de Mallorca.
