The UOC is to take part in an international meeting of e-learning experts in Ecuador

The 2nd Virtual Educa Meeting Ecuador is to take place on April 19 and 20, bringing together experts in e-learning from around the world. The UOC has been invited to take part by offering its expertise. The Vice President, Postgraduate Studies and Lifelong Learning, Josep Maria Duart, is to offer a talk on the results of the PIC Universities research, which studied the application of information and communication technologies in education.
This international meeting of experts in e-learning takes place as part of the 2nd CREAD
Andes Congress which is being held in Loja, Ecuador, from April 21 to 23. This congress looks to
debate quality assurance and the new challenges for distance education in Ibero-America.
Specifically, the aims are to define future parameters for quality distance education, determine
the role to be played by distance higher education in the convergence of Europe and Latin America,
and find out more about open educational resources and web 2.0, and their contributions to distance
education.
It is to be organised by the Consorcio Red de Educación a Distancia (CREAD), Virtual Educa
and Loja Technical University (UTPL).
Alongside the UOC, other institutions from around the world are also to take part in this
meeting, including UNESCO, the Spanish Distance Education University (UNED), the National
Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Pennsylvania
State University and the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).
