The UOC collaborates with the Catalan Down’s Syndrome Foundation

The fifth online
Down’s syndrome children and language: resources to aid development course is to be
held at the end of April. The course is run by the UOC in collaboration with the Catalan
Down’s Syndrome Foundation. More than a hundred people have been trained over previous years.
This year both institutions have signed an agreement to ensure the course’s future.
The course is organised to respond to the range of requests for advice and guidance received
from both professionals and family members in terms of the different aspects of all-round
development seen in those with Down’s syndrome and, in particular, in terms of language.
It looks to handle the development of language skills with respect to the person as a whole,
taking into consideration the interrelation of factors linked to their general development,
including affective, cognitive and social aspects.
This course is given online in Spanish via a multimedia website. It lasts a total of 30 hours
and is worth two credits.
Collaboration between the two institutions began in 2002 with the signing of an agreement to
establish cooperation in academic, social and cultural areas.
