The UOC, full member of the European University Association
[25/04/2008]
The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC) has become a full member of the European University Association (EUA). This decision was taken at the association’s recent general assembly.
To become a full member, universities have to show that they have awarded doctorates over
three consecutive years. The UOC has done so for five years now. By becoming a full member, the
University now has full voting rights at the association’s General Assembly, as well as
access to all of its services and conferences.
As a member of the EUA, the UOC will be kept up-to-date about the activities and services
developed by the association with respect to the trends and policies linked to higher education and
research in Europe.
Spring Conference
The EUA held its spring conference in Barcelona last month. This event brought together over
three hundred and fifty university representatives from around the continent, including the UOC
President, Imma Tubella. Under the title “The Governance of European Universities Post
2010”, participants debated the challenges and missions of university institutions in terms
of the globalisation of knowledge.
