The UOC’s official masters in Education and ICT (e-learning) has been shortlisted for the seventh Excellence awards given out by the Catalan Guild of Technical Telecommunications Engineers (COETTC). The masters has been nominated in the Excellence in sustainable development category, alongside five other initiatives. The jury’s decision will be made known on September 30, during the Telecommunications in Catalonia Conference organised by the COETTC.

This distinction for the UOC’s masters is recognition of the fact that the institution has stood out in the last year for its promotion, organisation, development of training activities, social action and dissemination in the context of international cooperation, global change and social, economic and technological divides.

According to the Education and ICT masters programme director, Albert Sangrà, this nomination is “very positive”. “We are not an institution that is directly related to the field of telecommunications, and indeed for this very reason it represents recognition of the level of quality of our initiative as seen from beyond the boundaries of the faculty,” Sangrà added.

These awards, which are divided into four sections (business excellence, technological innovation, sustainable development, and communication and dissemination of ICTs), look to reward companies and institutions that make efforts to spread telecommunications to improve levels of innovation, exports and social responsibility.

Training education professionals in ICTs

The official masters in Education and ICT aims to train teachers, designers, managers and administrators from the world of education and business so that they can make the most of ICT in education and offer innovation and quality training in one of the emerging areas of the information society.
