Second Life to host the next Innovation Forum
[10/09/2009]
A small island in the virtual world of Second Life created by Barcelona Virtual is to host the UOC?s ninth Innovation Forum. The aim of this event, which is to take place on Thursday, 17 September, at 10am, is to explore the different possibilities and opportunities offered by this digital environment for learning and the creation of virtual communities.

The forum’s new format is itself an innovation, as those taking part can attend the event virtually from anywhere in the world using their avatars. This means that they will be able to gain a better understanding of the possibilities for learning in an immersive 3D environment.

The speakers taking part in the session, entitled Immersive Spaces, include the founder of Barcelona Virtual, Paul Fleming; the CEO of Immersive Spaces in London, Justin Bovington; the Director de Vilaweb, Vicent Partal; UOC Vice President of Innovation, Begoña Gros, and the Director of the UOC’s Open Innovation Office, David Maniega.

Innovation forums

The Innovation Forums are a participatory activity open to all members of the UOC community. They are designed to allow for the exploration and identification of possible initiatives for innovation linked to specific uses of ICTs in the teaching and learning processes, and in the University’s teaching activity management processes.
