To provide a meeting point for exchange between Conflictology professionals representing universities, research centres, cultural associations, specialised institutions, NGOs, or civil society.

To raise awareness about the different fields in which Conflictology is applied and launch knowledge networks with specific goals in these areas.

To present a number of initiatives dealing with the resolution of specific conflicts, concrete peace processes, and university programmes on Conflictology, for example; the creation of social integration programmes for armed juvenile gangs, the creation of international networks of Conflictology experts, reconciliation processes and the development of a model for non-repressive police action, etc.

To create a forum for reflection on conflicts, Conflictology and peace.

To stimulate research in Conflictology and launch joint research initiatives at national and international level.

PARTICIPANTS

The congress is to be an international event, which is designed to involve the following groups:

• Directors of university institutes, centres and programmes specialising in the study of peace and conflict resolution.
• Those responsible for initiatives relating to the forming of non-violent civil bodies to intervene in armed conflicts.
