Initiatives and projects for living in peace
KNOWLEDGE NETWORKS
At the First International Congress on Conflicts, Conflictology and Peace various recently created knowledge networks on different areas of mediation and conflict resolution will be launched publicly.
Each network is directed by a knowledge manager and brings together institutions and individuals with specific working aims. As a result of the dynamics generated, final contributions will be produced in the form of publications, courses, conferences, research projects, etc., which can be used to disseminate this knowledge.
The subject areas to be dealt with are as follows:
Peace Culture
Peace Culture Network, Ana Barrero
Civic Proposals for the Future, Rafael Luna
Civic proposals for peaceful political co-existence based on freedom, democracy and respect
Education for Peace and Citizenship, Juan Coromac
Network of NGOs, governmental organisations, foreign aid agencies implementing an educational programme on educational, family and community mediation.
Organisations and Conflicts
Network on Company Conflicts, Josep Reig and Antoni Plou
This network deals with observation, diagnosis and prevention of conflicts in companies, focusing primarily on small and medium sized companies, and the economic impact of these.
Corporate Social Responsibility, Josep Maria Canyelles.
The objective of this network is to identify conflicts and challenges related to the co-existence of different cultural and linguistic identities in companies, and how to deal with these from a Corporate Social Responsibility perspective.
Conflicts and Health, Rosana Hernández.
This network promotes knowledge exchange between the different stakeholders in relation to public and private health systems in various countries, establishing processes for the control and resolution of conflicts.
Conflictology Experts Association/Network, Josep Reig and Antoni Plou.
The objective of this network is to create a professional association without economic interests, which is to develop activities and services for Conflictology experts with the aim to raise the general awareness about their work, and promote it through support and information services.

This group works on new, non-repressive methods in Police interventions.
Network on Colombia, Mario López
Network on Armed Juvenile Bands and Gangs, Nelsa Curbelo.
This network presents the non police methods used in the Barrio de Paz of Guayaquil, Ecuador, where criminality was reduced by 60% in six months.
Network on Non-Violence Peace forces, NOVA.
Mediation
Justice and Conflicts, Begoña Gamero.
GThis group works on the creation of a virtual office for advise, support and orientation of citizens regarding their rights and resolution of their conflicts.
Family Mediation, Anna Vall.
A group for mediators to exchange information and good practice, with a view to improve mediation intervention methods for the benefit of all.
Law, Mediation and Reconciliation, Marta Poblet
This group studies how law can generate opportunities for reconciliation and justice in ending processes of violent conflicts.
Legal Regulation of Mediation, Llorenç Prats.
Proposals for a basic legal mediation model, training of the mediators and their professional ethics.
Mediation and the Elderly, Immaculada Armadans.
This groups works on the identification of conflicts in centres for elderly people, in order to design an intervention proposal, adapted to the reality of these centres and using mediation as a tool for conflict management.

Network on Methodology, Josep Redorta.
Network on Conflictology Research, Cinta Pluma.
This network of Research Centres specialising on Conflict and Peace has the objective of adopting and implementing a common action programme for cooperation in research, fundraising, and information exchange.
Network of University Centre Directors, Carme Anguera.
This network is a meeting point for Programme Directors in the field of Conflictology with the aim to promote cooperation and develop joint academic proposals.
