The digital divide, by which we mean the obvious differences in access to the Information Society that affect a wide number of communities throughout the world, also has a direct effect on education.
Likewise, efforts to introduce ICT in the educational system may be of great help when it comes to overcoming this divide.
The main aim of the UOC UNESCO Chair's Fifth International Seminar is to debate the different possible solutions to this problem, cataloguing and analyzing success stories where ICT have played an important role in the development of education, in spite of technological and social barriers.
The definitive aim, then, is to demonstrate how education can help overcome the digital divide.
