Eduard Aibar is an associate professor at the Department of Arts and Humanities, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and leader of the Research Group on Open Science and Innovation. He teaches science and technology studies and research design at the undergraduate degree Program in Humanities and the Master and PhD program on the Information and Knowledge Society. He has published several works on the interaction between scientific and technological development and organizational and social change in areas such as eGovernment, town planning and the Internet. He is currently leading a research project on the relationship between science and peer production; in particular the project explores the scientific and technological content of Wikipedia articles.

He has got a PhD in philosophy from the University of Barcelona. He specializes in science and technology studies (STS). He was associate professor in the Department of Logic, History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Barcelona, a postdoctoral researcher at the Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (MERIT, Universiteit Maastricht, the Netherlands) and the University of Salamanca. He has been Vice President for Research of the UOC and director of the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute, director of the doctoral program in Information Society and Knowledge, president of the UOC Doctoral Committee and member of the Governing Council of the Catalan Summer University (UCE).
