Research Programme:

Glòria Munilla Cabrillana holds a PhD in History with a specialisation in Prehistory, Ancient History and Archaeology. A lecturer in Prehistory and Protohistory at the University of Barcelona (UB) from 1991 to 1998, she has lectured in the Arts and Humanities Department of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC) since 1998 and directed its Humanities programme between 2004 and 2009. Her teaching and research activities revolve around museology, museography, documentation and dissemination of cultural heritage, on which basis she is a member of the Department’s Cultural Management and Heritage Area. She is one of the teaching staff of the Cultural Management inter-university master’s degree programme that the UOC runs in conjunction with the University of Girona and the University of the Balearic Islands, within which she coordinates guidance on research.

She was co-director of the Òliba research group from 1999 to 2004, and has been director of Museia, a research group on museology, museography and heritage, since 2004. She is also a member of GRAP (a UB-based team of researchers working on protohistoric archaeology, recognised by the Catalan government as a consolidated research group), where she carries out research related to safeguarding archaeological historical heritage in wars. Her lines of research encompass aspects of cultural heritage, ICTs and cultural management, museology and museography, and protohistoric archaeology. Her publications include Salvem l’art! La protecció del patrimoni cultural català durant la guerra civil (2011) (with F. Gracia), El Instituto Arqueológico Nacional e Imperial. Un intento fallido de reorganización de la protección y estudio del patrimonio arqueológico en 1938 (2010) (with F. Gracia), Educació, museus i TIC (2009) (with J. Sprünker) and Patrimoni digital: un nou mitjà al servei de les institucions culturals (2007) (with C. Carreras).
