Dra. Helena Rifà Pous achieved the PhD in Telematics in July 2008 and the Engineering degree in Telecommunications in January 2001, all of them by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). She made a research stay at the Kingston University, London.

 

She was an assistant lecturer at the department of Information and Communications Engineering in UAB from 2005 to 2012. She was also an assistant lecturer at the UOC from 2002 to 2007. Since March 2007, she is a lecturer of Computer Studies, Multimedia and Telecommunications at the UOC, where she is responsible for security subjects. Since September 2011 she is the director of the Masters Program in Security in Information and Communication Technologies by UOC, UAB and URV. Previously, from August 2000 to February 2007 she had worked at Safelayer, where she was responsible of research and innovation projects.

 

Her research focuses on network security and privacy, in areas such as cognitive radio networks, smart cities, ad hoc networks, and generally decentralized networks. It is part of the research group KISON (K-ryptography and Information Security for Open Networks) of the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3). She has participated in several national and european research projects. She is an expert on behalf of the European Commission on evaluating and reviewing research and innovation project proposals.

 

She is director of the Chair in Cybersecurity IBM UOC.
