Jaume Claret was born in Barcelona in 1973. He is an associate professor in the UOC's Faculty of Arts and Humanities and director of the Joint Bachelor’s Degree in History, Geography and Art History (UOC, UdL). He has bachelor's degrees in Communication Sciences from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 1996, and in Humanities from Pompeu Fabra University, 1998, and a PhD in History from Pompeu Fabra University, 2004. His doctoral thesis looked at the history of Spanish universities and university policy during the Second Spanish Republic, the Spanish Civil War, and the early years of Francoism, and was subsequently published as El atroz desmoche by Crítica in 2006.

His research focuses on Spanish and Catalan intellectual, cultural and political (contemporary) history and he is currently principal investigator for the Regiocat. Regionalisme a Catalunya sota el règim de Franco: discursos i pràctiques research project.

He is the author of numerous articles, book chapters and books on history, including recent publications such as Breve historia de las Brigadas Internacionales (La Catarata, 2016) or  Pasqual Maragall: pensamiento y acción (RBA, 2017). He is a member of the Editorial Board for Rubrica Contemporanea and  Dictatorships & Democracies, and a member of the Scientific Board for Represura. He also works with a number of different publishers and reviews recently published essays for ARA.
