Associate Professor
uoc.eduJaume Subirana (Barcelona, 1963) has a Ph.D. in Catalan Language and Literature from the
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1999), and a degree in Arts from the same university (1986). In
2008 he got the Research Accreditation by AQU, Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari
de Catalunya [Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency]. He is Associate Professor of the
Department of Arts and Humanities at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). At UOC, he
participated as a lecturer in the start up of Catalan language and literature studies (1998-2000),
and also was in charge of starting up (2000-2004) the Catalan literature website Lletra
(lletra.uoc.edu). Since 2007 he is Academic director of Lletra. He was the Director of Institució
de les Lletres Catalanes (2004-2006).
He has also held the posts of Assistant and Adjunct Lecturer in the Humanities Department at
Universitat Pompeu Fabra (1993-1999), Visiting Scholar at Duke University (1996) and Visiting
Professor at the University of British Columbia (2007), and has been Lecturer and Academic Advisor
for Trinity College’s Global Studies Program in Barcelona (2003-2004, 2007-2009). Research
interests: Literature, Culture and Identity. Contemporary Catalan literature.
