Abstract:

From the point of view of Catalan literature -although the situation can probably be extrapolated to all of the humanities- there have been profound changes which radically affect the means of accessing texts and their diffusion. We have more information available through specialised databases, more resources with webpages providing material with particular pedagogical aims, and more accessibility with the possibility of consulting texts that were previously hard to access. The Web has also substantially improved the diffusion of information via electronic media and has introduced a new element -durability- which means, for example, that once over exhibitions can still be visited in their virtual format. There are still limitations, however, such as the poor organisation of the information available on the Internet and -in the field of Catalan literature- the poor reception the new medium has received from editors.
