e-Learn Center: Senior researcher at the eLearn (two-year position)

Description:

The UOC is an innovative university that is rooted in Catalonia and open to the world.
Its mission is to provide lifelong learning enabling the progress of both individuals and
society as a whole.
The UOC's strategic plan is to be a university that, as part of the worldwide network of
universities, drives the creation of a global knowledge space and conducts cutting-edge
research in the knowledge society.
The UOC has its own unique model of education, which is innovative, student-centred,
and provides quality training that can be customized to students' individual needs,
enhancing their competitiveness and contributing to the progress of society.
UOC faculty are a source of innovative ideas, and these are developed and
implemented each semester on the university's Virtual Campus. Such ideas are
sometimes published in high-impact journals, but not often enough; our goal is to
improve in this area.
Many faculty members do not always have e-learning at the forefront of their mind
when they are conceiving, designing and putting into practice an idea. For this reason
we are seeking someone with a PhD, expertise in e-learning research methods, and
the ability to detect new ideas and innovations to help conduct and publish research in
this field together with faculty.

The successful candidate will join the UOC's eLearn Center as a senior researcher.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeping abreast of the research in e-learning being conducted at the UOC.
  • Leading evidence-based research in e-learning conducted with UOC faculty
    members.
  • Supporting evidence-based research in e-learning.
  • Supporting the eLearn Center's Deputy Director of Research in the preparation of
    calls for applications.
  • Supporting the production of systematic reviews.

The successful candidate will be awarded a two-year contract. Scheduled start date: May 2019.
The place of work will be the UOC's 22@ centre, Rambla del Poblenou 156, Barcelona.

What we are looking for:

  • PhD in e-learning or related fields.
  • Experience in evidence-based research.
  • Communication skills (spokesperson, conflict management, outreach, etc.)
  • A commitment to the university.

  • High levels of initiative, proactivity and organization skills.
  • Experience designing and running pilot tests.
  • Competence in the production of systematic reviews.
  • English language skills at CEFR level B2, i.e. First Certificate equivalent.

  • Experience managing research and innovation projects, producing reports and
