European Association for the Study of Science and Technology
2014 - Amsterdamska Award

Israel Rodríguez-Giralt, professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences and IN3 researcher, received the Amsterdamska Award from the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST) for his book Disasters and Politics: Materials, Experiments and Preparedness (Wiley-Blackwell 2014), which he co-edited with Manuel Tironi and Michael Guggenheim.

2013 - The Honda Foundation Prize "Your project, our project"

The project Participative project for the advancement of research on rare diseases, launched by a UOC research group, Sant Joan de Déu – Barcelona Children’s Hospital and the CIBERER Biomedical Research Centre, was awarded the solidarity prize by the Honda Foundation.

2013 - International Balzan Foundation Prize

Professor Manuel Castells was one of those awarded with the prestigious International Balzan Foundation Prize, which recognizes scientists from around the world for their contribution to science and the arts.

 
Hinnovar Award
2013 - Hinnovar Award for Innovation in Hospital Management

The project on rare diseases and inborn errors of metabolism developed by Sant Joan de Déu - Barcelona Children’s Hospital, the UOC and the Biomedical Research Networking Centre (CIBERER) received the Hinnovar Award for the platform Metabolic Commons. The award was presented by Novartis laboratories, in collaboration with ESADE and the Spanish Society of Healthcare Executives (SEDISA).

Ivan Serrano, researcher in the GADE research group of IN3, was awarded the 16th Ramon Trias Fargas Political Essay Award.

 
Holberg Prize
2012 - Holberg Prize

Professor Manuel Castells was awarded the 2012 International Holberg Prize. This accolade recognizes his work that “has shaped our understanding of the political dynamics of urban and global economies in the network society.”

 
Catalan Association of Sociology (ACS)
2011 - Concurs de Joves Sociòlegs prize for young sociologists

The prize organized by Catalan Association of Sociology (ACS) of the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC) was awarded to Lídia Arroyo, a UOC research assistant. She received the prize for her work Joven para plegar y mayor para buscar trabajo (Too young to quit and too old to look for work), an analysis of long-term unemployment in women aged 45 and over.

2011 - Joan Sardà Dexeus Award

The collective work La indústria catalana després de la crisi (Catalan industry after the economic crisis), co-written by Joan Torrent-Sellens, professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, received the Joan Sardà Dexeus Award, which recognizes the book’s influence on the economy and business.
