As part of his visit to the eLearn Center from 12 to 14 September, Dr Gordon Hunter will offer the seminar "Recent projects in Educational Technology for Science at Kingston University", in which he will explain some recent projects carried out at Kingston University in the framework of computer-based educational technology for the Mathematical, Engineering and Computer Sciences like the use of some tools for automated assessment and for the production of assessment materials. In particular, the focus will fall on three current projects: TalkMaths and SWIMS, for the creation and editing of mathematical formulae in electronic documents and Nooblab, an interactive environment for the teaching and learning of computer programming.
Dr Gordon Hunter studied Mathematics & Physics at the University of Cambridge, and later, following a Masters in Electronic Engineering & Computer Science, did a PhD in Computer Speech Technology at University College London (UCL). Prior to joining Kingston University in 2003, he had previously worked at the University of Portsmouth, St. Mary's College and the University of Westminster. His research interests include many aspects of Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition & Machine Learning, particularly applied to Acoustics, Speech & Language Processing, Medical Image Processing and Educational Technology.
