Abstract
Urged by climate emergency action calls, urban interventions to adapt cities to climate impacts while reducing carbon emissions are being mainstreamed and accelerated. However, these transitions towards resilient and climate neutral cities are complex and contested processes challenged by the needs and desires of multiple actors. Involving the actors at stake, and particularly vulnerable and marginalized groups, through more collaborative and democratic forms of governance has the potential to yield more equitable outcomes. In this webinar, I examine how collaborative governance and co-creation has been framed and operationalized in the emerging policy field of urban climate resilience. Specifically, by focusing on the case of Barcelona, where climate emergency measures rank high in the political agenda, and carrying out interviews with public officials and community-based organizations engaged in climate resilience, I address the ambitions, the concerns and the opportunities that co-creation processes may entail.
