Betrayal and the damage done: the tragedy of child sexual abuse in religious institutions

This Seminar aims to engage the attendees in a discussion based on the experiences and in the research in the USA and in other countries about cases of sexual abuse in religious institutions, particularly in the Catholic Church. The speakers will focus on the experiences in the USA considering the consequences of this form of child sexual abuse for survivors and how to deal with them.

 

Dr. Abramson is the author of eleven books published by the likes of Oxford University Press, University of Chicago Press, MIT Press, and NYU Press. Ms. Abramson has published in the American Medical Association Journal of Ethics and Feminist Review. She has a forthcoming chapter in the Handbook on Mental Health and Contemporary Western Aesthetics by Oxford University Press.
