The Spanish Meeting on Cryptology and Information Security (RECSI) is the Spanish reference scientific Conference in the field. Every two years the most important national researchers attend this event, and renowned foreign researchers are invited. In the meeting recent advances in security will be presented to the main agents of the Information Society, in order to provide a forum for exchanging ideas, increase knowledge and share experiences in the field of Security.

From the 26th to the 28th of October, Menorca held the 2016 edition of the Spanish Meeting on Cryptology and Information Security (RECSI), where UOC researchers from KISON (K-ryptography and Information Security for Open Networks) presented four scientific papers. The first edition took place 25 years ago in Palma and now its fourteenth edition was held.

This year’s edition of the conference demonstrated that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are, without a doubt, a reality of daily use in every field of our society. However, it is not so clear that the deployment of ICT is carried out ensuring proper security levels. Recently, security incidents related with ICT are becoming more common (frauds, viruses, intrusions, denial of service attacks, etc.)

This is why it is increasingly important for scientists and engineers who work on security to keep on developing and disseminating new security measures and protocols, thus allowing our society to achieve an ICT development with the required security level.

The articles authored by members of the KISON group presented contributions related with different security fields: steganalysis, privacy in peer-to-peer content distribution, anomaly detection in wireless sensor networks for smart cities, and trajectory anonymization for location-based services.

The four scientific papers presented were:

Peer-to-peer Content Distribution Using Anonymous Fingerprinting - Proof of Concept,
by Amna Qureshi, Jordi Casas-Roma, David Megías y Helena Rifà-Pous

Protección de la privacidad en trayectorias para estudiar la propagación de epidemias,
Cristina Romero-Tris, Joan Melià y David Megías

Manifold alignment approach to cover source mismatch in steganalysis,
by Daniel Lerch-Hostalot y David Megías

Anomaly detection in smart city parking data: A case study,
by Victor García-Font, Carles Garrigues y Helena Rifà-Pous

You can find these papers on the meeting record of the event.
