The IN3 is looking for a principal investigator to lead the complex systems research group

The Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3), the UOC’s R&I centre, has opened a period for applications for the position of principal investigator to lead a research group on complex systems. Applicants need to have a strong interest in the application of complexity science to address problems in social sciences. They need to have proven research experience in the related areas of study and be able to lead research. The successful candidate will have to direct the group’s general strategy, coordinate its activities and guarantee that it meets its objectives. The deadline for applications is 19 October.

The successful candidate will have to develop a strategic plan and economic overview for five to six years showing each stage of the project; set out a work plan for two years; establish objectives and indicators or operational or assessment criteria for the duration of the group’s work plan; take part regularly in competitive calls for funding, especially international calls; establish alliances with other groups, institutions or companies; develop a plan to attract talent; design a policy for transfer and valorization of the activity; determine the social impact and prepare a plan to improve it; respect and comply with the ethical aspects of the research, and take part in the leading international scientific networks in the field.

With regard to organization, the successful candidate will have to develop and implement the structureprocesses and strategies for organization of the research group; annually assess the main indicators, especially with regard to scientific output, transfer and funding received; manage the budget, both in terms of the funding from the UOC and funding from competitive calls, and look for advice from international experts in order to share best practices in the field.
